2009: Claustrophobic

Amie Dicke was among the artists invited to participate in the Aura project at Castrum Peregrini, a cultural institute in a monumental building on the Herengracht in central Amsterdam. Using plastic sheeting, she “traced” the soon-to-be-removed belongings of the late Claus Victor Bock, a German Jew who had been sequestered in the building during WWII and returned to live there in later life. “I felt the aura must lie somewhere between the various objects, pieces of furniture, carpets and the hundreds of books in the house,” Dicke said at the time.
